"cajunbulldog" gave a website apx feb 07 where consumers can record collection calls and have attorneys listen to them and litigate if the law was broken/ does anyone know that site that he suggested?

You can PM CB and ask him, I know that this site has a recording phone line (among other things) but I don't think DCC has attorneys that will review the call, unless he' speaking of the couple attorneys we have on this site that post here.

Here are instructions on how to use the DebtCC phoneline:
The Free phone system can be used to:
1. Talk to a counselor
2. Record phone calls.
3. Do Podcast.
4. Talk to any of the 9 people who run debtcc.
How to talk to a counselor ?
Call 800-601-1579 and choose option 1
How to record phone calls ?
Call 800-601-1579 and choose option 2.
The system will then ask you for your 6 digit numeric user id. Enter that.
Then the system will ask you for a 10 digit US phone number to call. Enter that.
Once calls are recorded how do I listen to them ?
They will be available in your member area once you log in. On the left panel. The menu option is called "Phone calls"
How do i get my user id ?
Once you login, there is a option in your member area left panel called "What is my user id"?. Click on it to get your user id.
How the free calls can be useful to me ?
When you use the free calls to record a message, you can use the recordings as evidence. You may use the service to talk about and record problems you have faced with debt and collection agents for example, and then by going to "Phone calls" you can get a list of your recordings.
How to do podcast ?
Call 800-601-1579 and choose option 3
How to talk to any of the 9 people who run debtcc ?
if you know the extension number of the person you are trying to reach dial that instead of choosing the above three options.

Please check your state laws regading recording. Some states require the consent of both parties. If your state is one of them you must state that the call is being recorded and by staying on the line the other party is agreeing to being recorded. Make sure the other party says that they understand. You can do a google search and easily find the recording laws of all states.

I have tried a few times to use the call recording feature offered by DebtCC and it doesn't work. The first time I tried was on a weekend, then I read a post that advises it only works during business hours. So I tried a few more times, during business hours, and it still didn't work.
I followed the instructions just as you posted them, as I found them after doing a search on this website. I don't know if it was just plain operator error, or something else is going on but I would have loved to have had it available when I called a CA back. It would have been interesting to play it back for an attorney to hear.
I did find a few pay sites out there, that offer the same features. I just don't have a whole lot of extra money to spare for them, though.

I know it worked in the past, but the last time I tried to use it I had the same problem Ron. I asked and was told it was down for maintenance, but that was quite a few months ago.
Does anyone know if it is actually working now?

The entire phone system is changed. I am sorry I haven't updated you since then. We will have to program it so that the community members can also use it for recording purpose. Let me speak to my technical team and get the changes done.
Regards
Mike

I second that!
Thanks very much, Mike! I would have loved to have been able to use it a month, or so, ago. I only have the memories of the hilarious phone calls to/from a CA to keep me warm at night, though, not the actual recorded phone calls.
I guess that's enough!
LOL

This time, the phone system will be a lot better version from the previous one. I have asked the technical team to start working on it. I will keep you posted.
