question for my cousin

My cousin is two months behind on her car payment and she said the bank calls her everyday demanding payment. I guess the bank told her that her car is in repo status. She hides her car everynight so they can't find it. The bank doesn't know she has a different job, so they won't know to look there. My question is, even though they are trying to repo her car and they can't find it; won't my cousin still get in some kind of trouble for doing this Question

I'm not sure. It is possible for her to get charges against her. I knew of one person who had theft charges against them but that was with a Buy Here Pay Here car lot and it was local. They couldn't find her and filed charges, she gave up the car and they dropped the charges.

I think she needs to try to work with the bank and get it caught up instead of hiding it every night. The bank will find her and may repo the car and then she will have that issue. She really needs to resolve her situation instead of running from it.

I've tried to explain that to her; maybe even pay just one payment and make arrangements with the bank to get caught up with the other payment, but she says they won't work with her. She's hard headed and one of those types that you can't tell her anything Rolling Eyes

If her car is in repo status, the bank or repo people will definately find it. She needs to contact the bank and work something out.

Brownsugar, Sooner or later they will get her. Eventually they contact the police to statrt looking for the license plate. Tell her to try to work out something. Good Luck KYSIDE38

I don't even bother anymore trying to tell her anything because it's like I'm just waisting my breath. I know that sounds bad, but think she knows everything!!!

Take it from someone who has had their car repoed....They find it and you are out a car with an ENORMOUS amount owed to the company. They sell the car eventually in an auction if she can't front the balance and then your cousin will get stuck with the remaining balance. So say her car is worth $14,000.00 and they only sell it for $7,000.00 she will get stuck with the remaining balace of $7,000.00. It sucks and it's not something I was proud of at all. They will eventually start following her. It does happen.

If they won't work with her, she is talking to the wrong people. She needs to get to a supervisor or higher.

They will find the car. No matter what she thinks. And then, like tinkers said, she will be stuck with a large bill. And since she has not made payments, she can potentially have theft charges brought against her.

She has a job. She has income. No reason she can't make payments. She needs to send one in. If they are truly unwilling to work with her, they will return the payment. But more than likely, they will process the money. She may have to deal with the calls for months, but ate least she'll have a car and ok credit and if she can just tighten the belt a bit, one month she can send in a double payment and be A/G.
