I was served a summons from a creditor yesterday by a person in a FedEx jacket. My husband answered the door and the FedEx guy gave my husband the summons from an envelope and my husband asked if there was anything he needed to sign, the FedEx guy just said "make sure you give this to your wife" and walked away. I was talking to my co-worker friend and she said that if it was an actual summons it would have the County seal and someone from the Sheriff's office would have delivered it and had me sign something, which I did not nor did my husband and the papers do not have the County seal. The paper does say I have 30 days from the date of service of this summons to appear and defend the complaint filed against me. Can anyone please verify this information for me and tell me what they think I should do next? My co-worker said I should contact the creditor and try to make payment arrangements with them...
