Dispute the incorrect item with the credit bureau. They will verify it with the collection agency and get the actual status. They will send an updated copy in your mailing address.

I was contacted by Midland Credit two months ago saying I owed them 1700. Last month I sent the a debt validation letter via certified mail and it's been a month and I have not hear from them. I worked really hard getting everything removed and paid on my credit, but I think this is something from like 8 years ago and wasn't on my credit file any longer. I just checked my reports and all three say midland have me in collections for that amount.

1. I'm about 99 percent sure this is like way old and not reportable any longer.
2. I sent 2 certified copies asking for debt validation to midland and still now response. I think they are avoiding me, b/c this is old debt and they don't want to give me the tools to prove this is past the SOL and federal debt reporting.
3. Where do I go from here?

Thank you, JD

You will need to gain proof of your sol from somewhere.Credit report or original creditor.Send proof to credit bureaus and tell them to remove or they can join Midland in a Fcra lawsuit for illegal reaging of a debt.

Thanks cajun...but that is a big issue. Without debt validation I have no idea what this could be. Doesn't midland have a legal obligation to send me a debt validation if I request it. I received my confirmation that they received it on both copies from the post office.

If they have reported on your credit report you may be able to push them. Start a dispute telling bureau that you do not recognize account. Once that dispute starts, they have 30 days to either prove it or remove it. If the bureau verifies, write to bureau stating that under the fcra you want a list of procedures used to verify account(usually called a mov method of verification). If Midland violates on their reporting, you can either make them pay you for violations of reporting or you can settle for deletion.

Kiko, send them this letter certified return receipt.

After they sign for it,send a written dispute to the credit bureau staing that the account is incorrect, please investigate.

I have a collection from midland credit managment for $4187 dollars from pacific bell.that was recently reported in my credit report. Now we are in 2007 why are they just reporting it? they also told me that this account was back from 2002. by then i was a minor and never had any phone service in my name. Also another company has the same collection account. The other collection agency already removed it when i dispute it but mcm is saying that it is mine? what can i do?

Two months ago I submitted a request for debt validation from Miland Credit. I need to clear this debt within the next 3 months asap. I am currently in the process of purchasing a new home. There has been no response from Midland Credit at all. Does anyone know what I should do next?

You might try disputing the entry on your credit report, although that will take some time.

I just received a letter of collections from MCM for a debt I have never had for a name similar to mine, but not one I have ever used. I called and told them the debt wasn't mine, they had the last 4 of my social, and they advised me to file a police report for fraud and send them a notarised affadavit with my sig. now, of course, i'm terrified to send them anything with my sig on it for fear they will do something nefarious with it.

this debt is not on my credit report. Should I treat this as idtheft? should i ignore it?

I have absolutely no idea what your leetter is about. I do not have any outstanding bills. Is this just a scam to try to get me to remit money to you? I repeat: I HAVE NO OUTSTANDING BILLS!
