I was sued by a collection aency and paid the debt to the original creditors after suit, they dropped this part of the case and now want attorney fees and court cost, the original debt was $543 and they want $1400 plus interest and also keep asking for $200 each additional letter they send me from court filing, i send them filings as well as the court has told me to,the agency never did send me proof they own the debt and if so,wouldnt or shouldnt the original creditors NOT have accepted the payment?they did, anyways, can anyone help me with any of this?

If you paid the original creditors, they should have notified the collectors to cease all collection activity on the account. Was the case already filed when you paid them?

I would get legal advice on this one. It still seems fishy to me that if you paid the original debt to the original creditor why you should have to pay solely to make the collector rich. Definately get a legal opinion here.

If the debt is paid in full to the original creditor, you don't owe anything to the collection agency. They are trying to make money for illegal reasons. Get the PIF letter from the original creditor to have a proof in your side.
