I am having a few problems right now. The first one is an old Bally's fitness account. I had a membership a long time ago but ended up having medical problems and canceled the membership, or so I thought. I am now getting a letter from a Law office/debt collector. I think they are one in the same. They said they will have Bally's take legal action against me and the problem I see, THEY will put it on my credit report and it will ruin my credit for the next 7 years or more. It is not on my credit report now so how can you add an old debt?
My second question is pretty much the same. I got a court summons on a debt I have no Idea of and the original debt they claim, compucredit/emerge is not on my credit reports BUT an Emerge account is. It is a different account number than the one they are providing with the law suit. The account on my credit report is in good standing. The company, Norfolk Financial Corp. Has put an entry on my credit report with a different account number but says assignee of compucredit/emerge and that they are the factoring company. collection agencies can't be factoring companies, right? They tried to re-age the debt I think because it says date delinquent is 1999.
