I had a Citibank master card that expired and went unpaid. It has been 3 years now. I live in a 4 year SOL State. Does Citibank often sue for old debt? My ending balance was 4400 and now I am sure it is about 9000 because they charge extreme interest.

Shazzers is right. These things do not go away. They just go dormant sometimes. It is probably in the hands of a collector by now!

I doubt much that Citibank even owns the debt anymore. Try and find out where it is and send off a validation letter. If they validate it properly you should look into budgeting paying this back in your finances.

Sears doesn't back their own cards. Citibank does. sears is just the merchant, citibank is the one you actually borrowed the money from.

shouldn't MJS have heard from a collector before the debt was 3 years old?

Maybe, or maybe not, Socks. I finally heard from a collector on my wife's old Citibank account. DOLA on that one is 8 years ago. And the balance they're wanting is more than ten times the last balance we have in our records.
them. SOL and reporting period have both expired on this. I might be willing to deal with them on this. But at this point, it's gonna be on my terms or not at all.

wow unc..
that's crazy!
I could understand the 8 years later if you jumped off the map or something
ten times the last balance they're asking for when they paid pennies on the dollar..doesn't quite add up though..

Well, I guess I did jump offa the map. Moved from Wyoming to Vermont several years ago [proof positive that even I make an occasional mistake!]
But I left all of the appropriate change-of-address and mail forwarding documents when I left. So that dog ain't gonna hunt.
