I have a hospital bill. I was paying the hospital bill every time they sent me a bill I would mail them back a check. They stopped sending the bills and so I stopped sending the checks .I got a call from the hospital and I gave them my name and social and they could not find that I owed them anything. They even could not say why they had called me .I spoke with the person who left the message for me and they said it must have been a mistake. That same day i got a bill in the mail.Should I continue paying them after they told me I do not owe them anything?

I would call the hospital back and review that bill you received in the mail with them. I'm assuming the bill showed you still owed a balance? I wouldn't stop paying them if you still owe - to do so would only cause them to eventually send your account to collections, which would harm your credit.

Do you have/can you get copies of the cancelled checks? If you have proof of payment via a paper trail, then you have a case to get them off your back. How long did they go without sending you a statement? I would get them to agree on terms with you, in writing, for whatever you owe to them. With physical proof, you can dispute with the CRA's and have the item corrected or removed, if it comes to that.

It was maybe 2 months that I never got a bill. Is it posible to arrange to make 10 dollar payments? I read where some make 10.00 payments .Then I could make more if I could. But 10.00 right now is about all I can afford. I just don't want that to go to collections. Someone say if you are making payments it won't go to collections.
