Can a collection agency freeze a bank account (state of Florida) without prior notice? My girlfriend is concerned about some old credit card debts, even though they are past the statute of limitations.

Welcome to the forums Can a CA freeze bank account?? I don't think that a CA would have any decision in the account being frozen. Isn't all of that up to your bank?

I think the only way CA can freeze your account is if they have ajudgment against you. Then they can try to but from what my bank told me is that even if they do the bank will send notice prior to it.

Are you sure the debt is past the SOL?
In that case, collectors have no rights and force you to make a payment. They lose all legal powers after the statutes are past.

Question regarding SOL...On my CR, I have a charged off acct. It says that the acct became delinquient on Oct. 2003, so doesn't that mean that is when the SOL started?? If so, wouldn't it be over in Oct. 2006??

Oct 2003 is the date when the account became delinquent. This date is used for calculating the 7 years reporting time. Did you make any payment after that? If not, the SOL will be calculated from that day onwards.
