I call'em like I see'em. Always have, always will.

As for trolls and other assorted pinheads, well... They have a saying down home. 'You don't start no sh*t, there won't be no sh*t.' Most folks on this forum came here to help them selves and others. It just ticks me off to see somebody intentionally trying to ruin that.

Collectorman is a real collector posting as a guest under that id. He is tough but gives good advice from his side of the fence. The other *cough* trolls can take a big leap far as I care.I also like your style unclewulf. It is always good to have some tough members here.

If you were to join, it'd clear up a mess of confusion by eliminating the impostors. It ain't like you have to give up your privacy or anything.

Just an FYI.... I have no problem with Collectorman or anybody else just because thay happen to work on the 'Dark Side'. Everybody's got to do something. Follow the law and treat folks halfway decently, and we'll get along just fine. Besides, Cajunbulldog ain't the only one here with an interest in hearing both sides of an issue.

What pisses me off are the impostors, CA shills, and such. What is the benefit of bashing someone here for being down on his luck? None that I can see.

new to sight and maybe dumb question..how is someone banned hiding from something? their comments shouldn't be entered if they are banned from site.. how can they even still be here? not right at all if sight has banned them from posting!

also i agree of why the question of how did you know from your statements that collectorman posts were real from a real debt collector?..and how did you know this for a fact ? brings up a very valid question? I am not hiding and dont know what is being referred to but if someone is banned common sense says they arent here now yes or no?

Collectorman has shown enough data in his posting to infer he is in the field. A banned user can assume a guest id if name is banned or a proxy if ip is banned. With our site allowing guest posts it is really hard to boot someone completely.

Most forum software gives the mods/admin the option to ban a user in either of two ways. A User ID can be banned, in which case, that user is effectively gone. He can no longer log into that user account from any computer, anywhere. In most cases, that doesn't stop him from creating a new user account and logging right back in, though.

Or an IP address can be banned, either individually or as a range. That effectively bans the computer the person was posting from, or a range of computers on the same network segment. But it leaves the User ID untouched.

In this case, it sounds as though the user id was banned, but not the IP address. Either way, there are ways to get around most bans from forums. They aren't difficult, but some of them do require a bit of technical know-how.

(edit
Sorry, Cajunbulldog. Looks like you're just faster on the ol' keyboard than I am this morning. Hopefully between the two of us, we've answered the question.

I can't agree with that. It's a public forum, and the more you know about what makes it tick, the better off we'll all be in the end. I like to think I've been able to help some people in the time I've been here. I wouldn't have been able to help if I hadn't been reading, pondering, and asking the occasional stupid question. Even about things that don't apply to me or my situation. Knowledge is power.
