I am pretty sure they do not sell student loans. They usually just assign them out,but I could be wrong.

I'M A GREAT COLLECTOR & ALSO A GOOD DEBTOR... SO LET
ME GIVE YOU ALL JUST A LIL GOOD ADVICE. READ UP ON YOUR fdcpa LAWS(4 THOSE WHO HVNT) FOR THERE ARE A LOT OF BAD AGENCIES OUT THERE IN WHICH YO CAN GET UP TO 1K + PUNATIVE FOR EVERY OFFENSE. GET A RECORDER & GET A LAWYER SEND THEM A LTTR & THEY WILL PAY YOU HUSH $$ GUARANTEED. NOW FOR THOSE WHO DONT BREAK THE LAW SET YOUR OWN ARRGMT... DONT LET THEM INTIMIDATE YOU; THE DMG IS DONE 4 THE MOST PART BUT DONT SCREW YOURSELF WITH A SMALL PPA UNLESS IT IS NEC. FOR YOU WILL CONTINUE TO DIG URSELF INTO A DEEPER DEBT INTEREST ON MOST ACCTS DONT STOP AFTER IT HIT CA... PAY IT OFF & GET IT OUT OF YOUR HAIR AS FAST AS POSSIBLE B4 IT IS CHARGED OFF ... BE CAREFUL ALSO FOR WHEN YOU SETTLE CHARGED OFF ACCTS YOU MUST PAY TAXES ON THEM....

nice post.i like your angle, but the consumer pays tax on settled debt if the amount forgiven is greater than 600.00.i settled a 1500.00 credit card for 1000.00 the orignial credit limit.that 500.00 is not taxable therefore i won't get a 1099C.otherwise i like your post.just goes to show there ar some legit collectors who don't like what others are doing.

Also, Ca's cannot just willy-nilly charge whatever interest they like on an outstanding debt. There are laws and provisions governing this.

Also, be sure to request validation on any debt a CA claims to be collecting on, in order to verify they amount they are quoting that you owe and explaining how they determined it. Never settle with a CA until you get something in writing.

And I can't stress this enough, never, never, never, never give a CA your banking information like account number, routing number, or even your check card number. Us a payment means that will make sure they do not get hold of this information, because if they do the chances are fairly good you will have your bank account cleaned out causing you even more nightmares down the road!
