It is from 203-672-2117 a guy named Dat Sully. He has a foreign accent and says he has a legal matter that I need to call him back, then he goes on to say that i need to hire a lawyer and that they are going to come pick me up so i need to find someone who can bail me out. Then he wishes me luck and hangs up..he calls about 3 or 4 times back to back before leaving a message. All of that on the message....am i the only one receiving calls from this guy??

Yea I'm sure I have one or two payday loans still floating out there that I haven't paid yet. Do you know what companies they normally collect for. I have no problem paying people if they send a letter/statement so I know they are ligit. I'll continue to ignore them. Hopefully they will go away soon.

A friend got a similar phone call. Threatened to have CPS pick up her kids, send her to jail, etc. Have you heard anything since?

Threats like that are not only illegal, but completely over the top. So you'll know, they can't do anything like that. If this is BIG, Int., I don't even think they can sue. It would depend on your state laws, and the particulars of the case.

Last time I heard about anything like this I helped a woman locate a attorney here in my state and she won a judgment against the collection agency for $147k due to punitive damages (mental anguish)

Good ole GFSIL...file a complaint with the FTC...that will get them off your back ASAP....it did me...just go to their website and file it...

YES, IT HAPPEN TO ME TODAY. A KELVIN ANDERSON CALLED AND SAID THAT I WAS A SUSPECT IN A CRIME AND THEN TO FIND OUT IT WAS ABOUT A PAY DAY LOAN I HAD NEVER TOOK OUT. THREATENED ME AND CALLED MY PLACE OF BUSINESS. SAID THE GOVERMENT OWNED A LOT OF PAY DAY LOANS. DID THEY CALL THEMSELEVES THE FEDERAL CRIME PREVENTION AGENCY? WHATS BAD IS THEY GOT MY SOCIAL.

guest,what state are you in?check your laws about recording calls.that is a BIIIIIG no-no.claiming to be anything to do with the government is so illegal.
check those laws get it on tape and go after them yourself.

I AM IN LOUISIANA. DON'T KNOW THE LAWS, BUT I SURE WOULD LIKE TO NAIL THESE FOLKS FOR BEING DISHONEST AND SCARRING ME HALF TO DEATH. APPRECIATE THE INFO AND HELP.
