We were about to close on a home purchase when the bank called to say they found a $5000 judgement from midland credit management against us? We didn't know it was there and aren't sure what it's for. We don't have the funds to pay it off. We will loose the house we were purchasing unless we can figure something out quick. Help!!!

Can the bank provide any contact information to you for getting in touch with Midland Credit? You need to validate the debt to make sure it is yours. It's not uncommon for a data entry worker to input the wrong digit in a social security number and have it end up on the wrong report. Validate the debt before you consider paying it off.

Welcome to the Community Have you checked all three of your credit reports? You can also dispute the items if you don't think they are valid. Send a debt validation letter, there are samples you can google to the side of your screen, certified, return receipt. They will validate, hopefully, and then you can see if this was an error. They may be a junk debt buyer who has bought a charged off account also. Good Luck-keep us posted
