Anyone heard of icollectdebt.net? I received a call threatening to prosecute for check fraud. On a payday loan from Cash Connect Company (which I have never heard of) When I thought about it, there was one company that I put a stop payment on because they had taken $75 out every other week on payday and had already taken out way more than the original $250. I called that company and was told that debt had been sent to collection agency. And that the only way was to contact the agency by email at
customerservice@icollectdebt.net. I did email it, asking about balance owed and debt info. Is this the same people who called me stated they were lawyers and pressing federal charges and threatened to have me arrested? He stated his name was Attorney Frances and that I had till 5pm yesterday. But never told me what I had till 5 pm to do? Have never received any written collection attempts. The people had left a message that I could barely understand when I called back they did not answer the phone professionally (ie. You have reached....) and seemed confused that I was calling them. but then claimed he was lawyer. Later I looked up the # and it is in California and unlisted. Means a lawyer would have to be answering the phone at 5am since I called at 8 am EST?
So where do I go from here? Do the state statutes that cap interest on small loans cover this?
