Interim Cash Limited

Well, I thought that I was over and done with them but this morning proved me wrong. Two weeks ago I spoke to a gentleman (if you can actually call them gentlemen) from Interim Cash Limited. After speaking to a supervisor (I assume)they agreed to settle the account at $300. Well on July 7th, I faxed them a copy of the money order and mailed it that same day. I haven't heard from them until today. Today they claim that they don't accept money orders. Well I was told that I could send one. They also didn't have any record of this previously discussed plan. He put me on hold and came back and said that they "had indeed" received my money order but it hadn't cleared yet. I told him that I had done my part by sending the fax and the money order and that the matter should be closed now. According to them it is not. They say I still owe $295. I said no I didn't and hung up. They called right back and said they would take it out of my account. I don't have an account anymore so they want me able to do that. I also tried to give them my cell phone number because I don't like them calling me at work.

I don't know what to do. I don't plan on sending them more money. I have paid my account in full and as far as I am concerned this matter is closed. Help!!

kbluvscats, do you have the receiver code ID of the money order sent to ICS? If you have this receipt, they company has surely received your money. You can stand strongly on this point.

When we were making the money order arrangements for the $300, I asked if they would send a letter stating that the account was paid in full. They said they would send an email. I have yet to receive an email. They did say the account would be considered closed as soon as I send the money order in.

You must get the PIF in writing. It is an important fact about the account being paid off. Otherwise, some CA might start disturbing you later with disputed information. You need to have a proof in the first place.

There is a letter on my blog that you may use for Interim aka Cash Today. You just have to copy and paste your state laws.

Maybe you guys can use the phone recording service on this site the next time you talk with them. Get them to commit that way.

Seems like it really depends on who you talk to over there. Some have problems making arrangements and others do not.

Just great!(sarcasm here) Those fools did the same thing to me, I had to fax them a copy of the money order, then send the money order to close the account. I've been nervous ever since that they would do the same thing to me...
How do you keep these wolves at bay, I wonder! It's like they're some secret society no one can touch! It's frustrating.
Glynnie may have something here though...I would hop on over to Radio Shack and get one of those phone recording devices, pronto!

Just a little tidbit, when you send any money orders to settle a debt always put on the blank line in the bottom left corner. This money order constitutes payment in full for this debt or something like that. If they cash it then it is now on them because it they accepted payment for the debt. They can not try to collect anymore money from you. You can fight it in court. Also money orders are treated as cash when it deposited in a bank account. If a bank does hold it, it can only do so until the next business day (as long as it is not a stolen money order). My suggestion is always get a U.S. Post Office Money order. Yes, they cost more than most but it can definitely be traced and I don't think that there is any charge for tracing. I always send any correspondence to any company, certified mail and return receipt. If you default on your payday loan they can now submit is as a negative entry in your credit report. Once you agree to make a payment, then the 7 year time frame and will start over again.

I too have had problems with payday loan companies and I have a few lessons that I learned over the past years and weeks:

When you send any money orders to settle a debt always put on the blank line in the bottom left corner. This money order constitutes payment in full for this debt or something like that. If they cash it then it is now on them because it they accepted payment for the debt. They can not collect anymore money from you and if they do you can fight it in court. Also money orders are treated as cash when it deposited in a bank account. If a bank does hold it, it will only do so until the next business day (as long as it is not a stolen money order). You should always use a U.S. Post Office Money order. Yes, they cost more than most but it is a government money order. Most companies don't want to mess the the government especially, small businesses. Also, I don't think that there is a charge for tracing.
When I am sending any correspondence to any company, I send it with certified mail and return receipt. If you default on your payday loan, they can now submit is as a negative entry in your credit report. Once you agree to make a payment, then the 7 year time frame and will start over again.
Also, It is a good thing to know the banking laws in the state that the payday loan is licensed and in your state. It takes time, but I can assure you that it is worth it in the long run.
