I got a call last night from a "Nicole" stating she was with the attorney's office and asked that I call her back at 877-238-2868. The phone number was unknown caller and my caller ID. I think this is my Cashnet USA loan that went to AIS for collections. I am paying this through T & C. I googled the phone number and it came up as Jacob Law Group. Anybody heard of these people? Apparently there is an actual attorney. Should I be very concerned? My husband is out of work right now and I won't be able to send a payment to T & C this month. I'm going to let them know about the call, but I wonder if I should just ignore it. I received and automated call yesterday from AIS, so I'm not sure if it's the same account they are collecting on. I guess I will have to call to make sure it's not another payday loan. I've been doing well getting them paid until my husband lost his job.

I called them. It seems they are a CA but there is an attorney associated with them. They stated United Consumer Financial turned over my pdl to them. I think this is United Cash. Anyway, I called T & C who stated they work with guys all the time and they are easy to work with. When I called the person was really nice. T & C is going to call them to verify which PDL it is. The balance is only 70 bucks, but since my hubby is out of work, T & C said not to worry if I can't send a payment this month. They are going to call and find out where to send the next payment. I have to thank this forum for giving me the confidence to keep cool through all this and not to panic. T & C has been great, too.

Okay, I have a dilemma. I got another call from Jacob Law Group who is CA for EZPayDayCash pdl I had. I know I still owe some on this but after I complained to the BBB about them not responding to my inquiries, they responded back to the BBB saying that they were offering to discharge the loan. They actually never offered it directly to me, but then around the end of the year, I was getting e-mails everyday thanking me for repaying my loan and giving me the chance to take out a new one. I got about 20 of these e-mails which I saved along with the BBB complaint info where they said they are ceasing collection activity and discharging the loan. Do I send this Jacob Law Group a cease and desist letter with the documents showing the loan is paid or do I request for them to validate the debt? The amount the CA says I owe is way less than what the loan was for. I don't know why. This was previously turned over to a different CA who reported to the credit bureaus, which I then disputed and they removed. Do you think the copies of the e-mails and the BBB complaint stuff would be enough to send to them? What should I do?

I would suggest contacting the original creditor and finding out the status of the account first hand, if it is indeed paid for/discharged. Then ya, Jacob Law Group can go bite a big one. Also, my personal advice, never take out a payday loan, ever.
