I just received a wierd phone call at work for somoene claiming to be from this law office asking for my HR dept for a "job performance report" on me for "payday2go", which I know is an IPDL that I have. I just hung up on them instead. A few weeks ago I got a call from First Credit of America in regards to the same loan, which is a collection agency that refused to validate the loan in writing when I requested that. Has anyone ever dealt with any of this before?

Don't avoid the phone calls. Not talking to the company will make them feel that you are showing your irresponsibility towards the debt. Make them validate the account if their collection is genuine. Cover your grounds legally and throw the ball in their court. You will figure out with their validation letter if they are the right place where you have to send your money. Since you have a loan with payday2go, you can pay them directly also.

Thanks for your advice. The reason why i hung up on the person saying they were from the law office was because they were asking for my HR dept and I didn't want to transfer him there. The other call I did ask the man to validate the debt and we got into a back and forth match because he claimed that they had sent me letters. I verified my address with them and they had the correct address so I told him that could not be true because I hadn't gotten one letter. So he proceeded to try and go off and I hung up the phone on him.

By laws, collectors are allowed to contact your references when they are unable to reach you. So, if you hang up, he will try to talk to someone else and there is nothing you can do to stop them.

Now, when the person says that the letter is already sent to your mailing address, tell him that you have not received it. Maybe, the postal dept. lost it. You can ask for another letter with the info. And, keep in touch with the loan company also.

They are only allowed to ask if I am employed there...is that correct, not to discuss any personal information?

The man stated that they had sent several "letters" so when I told him that I had not received any of them and to please send them again he started trying to argue with me and speak more about the debt, which I told him that I would not talk about until it was validated. So when he refused to do that, I hung up on him and he proceeded to call me 4 times, which I did not answer. I am going to try and work directly with payday2go since the original loan was for $125 and they have gotten I want to say $50 of fees already.

Personal information must not be discussed with anyone, except spouse.

This collector sounds like a jerk. Make a deal with the pdl company
