We received a letter today from Frye Law office in Va. I called right away to try and find out what this is and why I never heard from Atlantic Credit. HSBC sold our account on July 25. We do have an amount owed and were making payments with CRI, the collection company. Then it was sold last week. Long story, yes we want to pay. It is a debt. We've had a rough year, gone through numerous loan apps to get the $ and denied due to current status. Now, this company said they don't set up payment plans. If I could pay 50% today then they would try and work something out. I'm in this situation because I don't have the money, obviously. Sometimes things happen and I've heard the whole "your a scumbag, low-life, who should pay their bills... blah, blah" I'll tell you, for 12 years we had it pretty good and then one thing changed and changed the course of everything. Now everyone in the credit world wants money and wants to tell me how "crappy" I am .. hello, the past 12 years, all we got were "praises".
Is this company legit? The secretary male said that they are preparing to send the account to an attorney in Pennsylvania to sue us for the money? Is bankruptcy the only option? We've tried to avoid this avenue but it seems the only avenue left? Any advice is helpful. I don't need the CA people on this blog to tell me what a low-life I am .. everyone has a rough patch .. this is ours. Thanks
