Jazzy4136, for the state of PA the 4 year SOL would apply for any action upon a judgment or decree of any court of the United States or any other state. (for the purposes of PA)

JCEMT,
Are you a debt counselor? Are you sure about this 4 year SOL on collecting a judgement?
So if a judgement was filed in 2001 in PA, the SOL is 4 years and has expired. Is it true that the debt collector can no longer take action to force collection of the debt? If the judgement was renew, would I have received notification? I haven't received any notification since the original judgement in 2001.
Statute of Limitations
Open Acct:4 § 5525
Written Contract:4
Domestic Judgment:5 (writ of revival within 5 yrs.)
Foreign Judgment:4
Lien against real estate 5 yrs
Personal property Ex:20 yrs.
Bad Check Laws (civil penalty): After demand and judgment triple damages in amount equal to $100 or 3 times the check amount whichever
is greater up to $500.
General Garnishment Exemptions: 100% of wages, certain pensions, retirement accounts & Keogh plan under certain circumstances, and $300
You'll probably have to dig it up but it should be in the link I posted. Generally they have a small window of time to renew the judgement and you should be notified. Hit the county court web site or go down to the courthouse yourself and pull the file.
I'm sorry...the PA RCP and Statutes are very difficult to go thru so i haven't been able to find that info. Hopefully some one more versed in PA law will jump in.

every where i ve looked it says 4 years in Pa. Now that 4 years starts from the time the account first went delinquent. there is a pa court case it involved dell financial services. The judge ruled in the case that indeed the sol had expired in the 4 years. i couldnt find the link. I ve been in more than collection action than most. the negatives dont come off your credit report for 6 years after they first report a charge off i believe,so it is really like 7 years. expect to pay higher interest rate on all your loans and insurance good luck even getting a home loan now. 1 year ago my scores were around 600 now with all the negatives finally gone 780's own a house new car all with great interest rates.the past 7 years was hell, now i dont have to worry anymore
By signing up for counseling session, your provided details (Name, Email ID and Phone No.) will be forwarded to the company advertising on the DebtCC. However, you have no obligation to use their services.
Some creditors and collection agencies refuse to lower the pay off amount, interest rate, and fees owed by the consumer.
Creditors/collection agencies can make collection calls and file lawsuits against the consumers represented by the debt relief companies.
Debt relief services may have a negative impact on the consumer's creditworthiness and his overall debt amount may increase due to the accumulation of extra fees.
The amount which the consumer saves with the use of debt relief services can be regarded as taxable income.
