My question is about this compnay is: Since I filed for a BK in 1999 and XYZ company that they're trying to collect for was part of that BK - am I obligated to pay RJM??
I already made one payment of $40.00 to them - am I out of luck in getting that back?

Thank you! I won't be making anymore payments to this company for something that has already been taken care of years ago. Because I did do a credit report for myself and just looked back at it and XYZ company doesn't even show up on my credit report!
How this RJM can do this is beyond me!
I'm glad I got curious about this company by just typing their name in my search engine and this message board link came up.
Great site!

It's also a FCRA violation. Once it is past the seven year mark where the origional creditor would have had to delete the tradeline, then colleciton accounts related to the OC would also have to delete their tradelines I believe (at least it works that way if the OC reports the tradeline)

Wow...I'm glad I've read all the replies to this post. I just go the same letter from RJM and was about to pay the 50% offer for a debt that I had definite doubts about. I'm going to research into this debt collection for sure now.

AT THE AGE OF 15 I replied to a add about free books.
4 years later, I receive a collection notice from rjm.
i live in north carolina . the show a nc dep of insurance permit of 3952. my mother said she took care of this and mailed books back over 3 years ago.
we dont have any documentation. what can i do about this. i am a law student. cant afford to hurt my credit. paying the $120.00 would be difficult for me.
