Debt Collector Licensing Question

Lets say you deal with one of the bad collection agencies and are not that knowledgeable of your rights. So you are essentially threatened into paying the debt without proper validation. Now, you find that the collection agency, in addition to violating the fdcpa, is not licensed to collect in your state.

Could you sue despite the fact that you paid the debt? Also, could you sue any collection agency who collected money from you if they are not licensed in your state?

If so...wow...do I have some ammunition.... Wink

The statute of limitations is one year from date of violation for a fdcpa suit. So if you have evidence and fall within those limitations it may be time for a attorney consult.
