From what I could find...LRA is Lighthouse Recovery Associates is associated with MTE. Did you have a loan with MTE or one of the companies associated with it?

And...if it is an MTE company they are completely illegal. They are not licensed in any state to do business. The whole part about turning you over to their legal department is a threat to get you to pay.

Heidi, Since you received communication from them and you can not recognize this debt, I would send them a request for debt validation to find out what and who exactly they are "collecting" for. After you complete the letter, you can fax it to them but be sure to send it certified return receipt as well. Here is a link to a debt validation letter that is posted on this site.

http://www.debtconsolidationcare.com...bout34520.html

And here are some FAQ's about debt validation. The information in this is really great and should help you with the process.

Heidi, it is possible since they seem to collect for pay day loans. Did you default on any of them? What state are you in? At this point since you are not sure, I would most certainly read the link I posted above and send them a request for debt validation.

Just because they collect for MTE, doesn't mean they are associated with MTE. They are just a collection agency, they are not part of MTE.

I am dealing with LRA right now, here is another thread that I started with them.

http://www.debtconsolidationcare.com/collection-agencies/lighthouserecoveryassociates.html

They called me in regards to MTE and they were very rude. I spoke with Bob Barry as well. They are the ones who sent my account to the 1st integral recovery place down in texas. So it seems like LRA bought the account from MTE and they sent it down to Texas to be collected. But when I was speaking to Bob he kept referring to MTE as his client.

I'm filing a complaint against them though and the people in Texas, because neither one of them validated the debt and they are not licensed to collect in my state of Illinos. I'm sending a debt validation letter to LRA today.
