National Credit Adjusters

I faxed NCA a letter about an account they are trying to collect on, and in that letter stated very clearly that I was requesting in writing they stop calling and conduct all business by mail. Well, less than 3 hours later they called and left a message stating they had gotten the fax and asked me to call back to "work something out."

I then got a call the next day from another 602 number (I've been trying to track it but I can't find it anywhere. I'm assuming it's NCA though).

Is there anything I can do to stop calling? And if I choose to send a cease and desist letter, do they have to erase the account from my credit record?

Thanks for your help!

If you send a cease and desist they must stop calling, the only exception being they can call to tell you what action they will take next, but that is it. Also send a debt validation letter. If the debt is not validated or you have not received anything in writing they should not be putting that in your credit report and I would dispute it.

They put a false entry in my credit report and they never contatcted me. I am disputing it and I have also contacted the Kansas attorney general (the state they are based in) I have also filed a complaint with the FTC and I am in contact with an attorney for the possibility of bringing a lawsuit against them.

They don't have to "erase" it but they do have to advise the credit reporting agency that the debt is disputed. Unfortunately, whether a disputed account still affects a FICO score is up the agency doing the calculation.

I've dealt with NCO this past year and I sent them a validation letter 2 times for a balance on a payday loan and I have gotten no where. I'm hoping that it is not on my credit report? I havent check all year...I'm going to next week. I havent heard a word from them no calls nothing since I sent in the letters....they are a nasty company to work with.

I've got one with National Credit also. I sent a debt validation letter and got a piece of *hit paper that looks like something a 2 year old drew and they considered it "validation". Ummm.... no. Sent them another letter stating it was NOT validation and explained again what "validation" was. They are complete bozos. Also, I want to address Freaky's post regarding them not having to erase it from your credit reports. Freaky, I had another collection agency report me to the credit bureaus. This was an illegal, unvalidated debt that they reported. I disputed it with the collection agency and the three major credit bureaus. It was DELETED because it was not a legal debt and because it was not validated. The collection agency even sent me a letter showing where they had contacted the credit bureaus telling them such. And the credit bureaus did their own investigation. This was DELETED off. So, my question is, what do you mean they have to report to the credit bureaus that it is being disputed? You can dispute it yourself with the credit bureaus and have it notated on there that it is being disputed. Am I missing something?

Tweety I would highly recommend using some credit monitoring company. The only reason I found out about NCA putting something on my report is because I got an alert that someone posted something on my report. If I had not checked my report I would not have known about it.
