Mildland Credit started to call our home October 06, stating that my husband owed $126. After multiple phone conversations, they could not tell us who we originally owed the money to. We contacted transunion and they didn't do anything. We just got another letter saying they will settle out if we send $76. I do not want to pay this since they cannot tell us who the debt originated from. My husband wants to pay to get them off our back, but I don't think we should since they cannot tell us who the debt is from. What can we do to get them off our back. Oh, it shows up on my husbands credit too.

Welcome to the Community Does it have any charge offs on your report, where Midland may have bought it?
Don't pay anyone if you don't know what it's about! There are some dirty CA that do this, and the person is clueless as to what it is.
Send them a debt validation letter so you can find out if this is your debt or not, if they are legally able to collect, etc.
If this is something you owe and they can legally collect, then you can decide what to do...keep copies of everything, and send the DV letter, certified, return receipt at the post office!..good luck..karen
