Can an collection agency refuse payment on a debt that is owed? I offered to pay 50.00 a month and was told they can take no less than 200.00a month. What does the law in Mississippi say about repaying a debt.

Hi sharon, I agree with Morningstar, but if I were you, I would only send payments by way of money orders. I wouldn't send them a check if I were you, don't let them have any information pertaining to your personal account. May I ask you something, did you have this debt validated?

Mississippi has a statute of repose on consumer debt. What this means if sol has expired,the debt is obsolete & cannot be collected ever.The first question to answer is the age of the account.
