A check or a Money Order?

I want to send Unifund a check per my settlement agreement but I've heard only mail them Money Orders so they wont have your banking information? True?

Does it really matter the form of payment you send them?

Hi Snowbunny. I personally would send a money order so that they don't have your banking information.

I too would send money orders-that's what I send my consolidation company. I don't want anyone getting my banking info!!

I agree!! Make sure you keep the money order receipt, though.

Definately! I have an envelope with my receipts for the money order & also my mailings (as I like to send them next day air).

And..It's a lot cheaper to get them at gas stations and stores than at the bank..Just don't throw away the carbon copy or the tear strip. If there was a problem later on, you wouldn't be able to prove you bought it without them.

Wow FYI! That's a steal! I get mine at the market...it's a dollar. The post office is high-priced. Even our local Quik-Check (like a 7-11) sells them.

Just a silly question on this note, but what about cashiers checks? They dont have any account info attached do they? I mean other than the bank name right?
I just thought about that as I have used cashiers checks on a couple of things like that.
thanks

Yes but if I send a Money Order I still have to go to the Bank to get the money for it. I am paying 4,600.

I dont think i can use my debit card for that much of an amount.

Postal money orders are probably the next best thing to a cashiers check. They come with a federal guarantee attached to them, the CA can always come back and claim that the money order was fraudulent and we all know that CAs love money and would use those tactics.

i serious doubt that you could get a money order for $4600. if i'm not mistaken the most you can get one for is $500. so that means that you will have to get 10 money orders at $1 a piece. i think your best bet is to get a cashiers check while you at the bank.

I checked the USPS (post office main site). The most you can get on one money order is $1000.
