I have asked NASF to send a written statement for 7 months and they do not do so. The above mentioned comment about they will only send a fax was told to me several times. They also said my brother was on my account, and he isn't. I got them in a conference call with Chase Bank and the NASF woman promised to send a corrected statement, but never did. I have never seen their address in print or anything in writing. If I dial back her 800 395 4084 it's some kind of "girlie" line or a "chat line"!!! These people are not above board and I don't know why Chase deals with such a third rate firm.

They do not use fdcpa practices and do lots of illegal stuff. Their attitude is that we cannot afford to sue. My community action group here in Manhattan can, and will. If you complain to the Attorney General and to the state banking commission, you can have your account removed from their files for their illegal practices. I would Google the AG's consumer number right now. Email the AG, NYS Banking Commission, and Chase in one email. Keep us posted.

My story is very much like the ones I have read here, except in this case, they called my place of employment and left a message on a government phone that they were looking to speak with me with regards to a debt. They actually stated that they were not a telemarketer but a debt collector.

These guys totally violated FEDERAL policies that protect consumers (even if the debt is true) from such disclosures.

I just came across this website/thread while doing a search for NAFS. I received a letter from them saying that I have an outstanding debt at a Blockbuster in Lorain, Ohio, even though I've never even been to Ohio.

I suspect this is a scam because it lists three ways of paying the alleged debt, two of them by paying NAFS, the other by going to the store that the alleged debt was incurred to pay it off, which is of course absurd since I live in NC.

I have to wonder how many people out there get these letters and think 'gee, I bet I do owe Blockbuster a few bucks even though that isn't my location' and end up sending checks or calling and giving their personal information to NAFS.

National Action Financial Services is not full of a bunch of "bottom feeder-crooks". I worked there for 3 years until the birth of my son forced me to leave. There are some people there who are complete jerks and shouldnt do collections because they're collection skills and people skills are lacking.....however for the most part everyone there wants to actually help. It would help if you have a debt to contact the creditors and inform them of your situation that way the collectors wouldnt think your "liers". They only see what the client or Creditor gives them. Keeping them informed and tring to actually show them you want to get back on your feet and not have bad debt will help not only you personally but the situation as well. Stop hiding from your debts....i understand that some of these so called collectors are complete morons, but if you actually keep in contact with creditors this problem wouldnt exist. Im actually currently going through a hard time financially but all of my creditors are aware as well as the collectors and they have all been very understanding. Good luck to everyone!

I got these maggots calling me too.
Probably for something that happened about 12 years go.

They are obviously using some sort of automated (read computerized) system. And do several things that are in the least unethical, and nothing short of harassment.

A) The computerized thing calls me and leaves a message.
If I pick up the line there is no one their to answer.
It's nothing different then the AFAIK outlawed things that telemarketers have done in the past.

B) They rotate around several different numbers some 800, 877, and some with different prefixes from what appears to be different states. They even resorted to using some sort of caller ID spoofing with weird 3 or 4 digit numbers.

I called these maggots today and told them to stop calling and harassing me.
I couldn't even talk to the guy that supposed that called me (again it's obviously automated the party that calls you is not present at the time). I talked to some lacky who told me "I just answer the phone", and they they are based out of New York.

This is bad and rude as any telemarketer call.
As a matter of fact the whole thing reeks of "telemarketer".
FCC, FTC, etc., please step in and eliminate this unethical, national harassing, "company".

And the person above who claimed this was a good company.
F.U., you're are an F'ing maggot as well.
Go do something productive rather then harassing people you
bottom-feeding, scum sucking A.H!

STOP National Action Financial Services Harassing Calls
They are calling for the National Action Financial Services.1 800-697-4981 They always misrepresent themselves as a Mr. Newman. (Which is a false identitification) and never states what company they are representing. They make harassment calls for people who do not reside at the phone number. Their message says to "Dial 1" to speak to someone, yet when you do, it hangs up and does not work. Brandon Wellington of National Action Financial Services, was the rep's name that was calling repeated and when I finally got through, he said sorry and hung up without telling me what business he was calling for and without saying I will be removed from his calling list. I called back and was hung up on again. I finally spoke to someone who told me the company name and hung up ubruptly as I was speaking. VERY rude and harassing behavior from ANY business 'National Action Financial Services' and should not be tolerated. especially when they are calling the wrong number and harassing the average citizen. link to further discussion on this business and their unethical practices.
-Do a search on "National Action Financial Services" and find out about them.
-Complain Online to the FCC. (Google FCC)

3 out of 4 of the National Action Financial Service representatives were rude. I finally got all my information from a 4th representative. The first 3 deplorable representatives quickly said what they wanted and hung up ubruptly leaving me with no chance for me to ask what their name is, what company they represent, will I be taken off their call list or inform them that their machines for speaking to a represntative during the message is malfunctioning.

I must assume that these contemptible representatives reflect the type of employee this company, National Action Financial Services, chooses to hire to represent them.
3 out of 4 representatives would NOT state the company they work for when asked.
3 out of 4 representative would NOT state their name when asked.
Their message machines didn't work when I tried to contact them. They lied, misrepresented themselves, conducted themselves in an unprofessional manner, were impolite and inept as they had repeatedly called a wrong number.
There is no reason for ANYONE attempting to make contact with another individual, be it a collection or any other business matter to act in such a manner.

Call it what you will...but apparently, National Action Financial Services hires mostly that type.

Trolling for sucker? Unprofessional. I am not saying they're on the con. They act like it. The feds need to reach out to these guys.

Had my accounts checkout. No problems.

Do not rely to people using conman tactics. I don't.

Reading through these posts concerning NAFS is disturbing. They've been calling me just recently as well and I've not returned the phone calls as of yet. I am cautious to speak to any so called "collection agency" who fails to fully identify the matter at the time of the call. Sometimes it tends to be a phishing game to obtain personal info from the person who eventually becomes a victim of identity theft. So please be careful there! Do not give any information about your address, SSN, date of birth, mother's maiden name...nothing that can personally identify you to these people.

Unless this company can verify in writing that you have a valid debt (with back up information that shows you incurred this debt), your are not obligated to pay any such debt. It's also good (as someone pointed out) to verify this debt with the actual creditor. In addition to complaining to the FTC (Federal Trade Commission) (not the FCC which is the "Federal Communications Commission"), you can also report these people to both your local state attorney's office (as well as the state attorney's office(s) where NAFC has a business practice) for fraudulent collections practices.

With me, they picked the wrong consumer to pick on. Between them and me, chances are good that I'm the only one who actually has been to law school.

I had a similar experience, where when I called back 1-800-697-4981 (since they had been leaving my company an automated message for about a month now) they had a wrong number (and trying to reach someone that I had never heard of.)
When I told them, they are calling a work number and no one by that name works here, and we wanted to be taken off the list and stop being harassed, she kept on asking for my name.
But seriously, why should I leave my name to a freaking scam company? And why can't they admit that it was their mistake and they shouldn't of had been harassing my work number to begin with? When I refused to give them my name, the woman on the phone hung up the phone. Are they kidding me? I do customer service and answer phone calls all the time and I understand that we all have our bad days, but I would never treat people this way. Furthermore, why don't they admit that they were wrong?

Just remember, this is a collection agency. Customer Service should be the last thing to expect. This is not a consumer service business with big smiles and "Hi! How are you today?"s.

Unfortunately, NASCARS's right. The really sad thing is, you usually don't even get the "Hi! How are you today's?" when you do in fact call a customer service number. So you're definitely not going to get it from a CA.

I always give a fake name if they ask who I am when I'm calling a CA to let them know they are calling a wrong number. You'd be surprised how many times "Juan Valdez" (remember the old coffee commercials?) has called some CA's! Or John Doe.

Seriously, National Action is part of one of the two FDCPA, FFCCPA, and FCRA cases I am currently pursuing. Of course NAFS is just one of two CA's the Pinnacle put on me; Pinnacle is the ultimate violator I'm going after in one of the lawsuits.

Jack John, you're the ***.

When I request validation of a debt from NAFS and all they send is some "balance statement" on Pinnacle Credit's letterhead telling me "yes this is the debt and this is how much it is", then, no, I'm not paying it as that is not proper validation. You know it, NAFS knows it, and Pinnacle knows it.

Then, Pinnacle tries to be slick, knowing this debt has been disputed and validation has been requested through NAFS, and they pull the debt from NAFS and place it with another CA. Plus they report the item on my credit report, again, knowing it is in dispute, and do not report it as being in dispute.

Whether or not I actually owe the debt is irrelevant at this point as FDCPA, FCCPA, and FCRA cases are separate from the debt issue. Besides which, the money I receive from winning this case, and I will win because I have excellent documentation, will more than make up for whatever it is I owe on this debt.

So Pinnacle and NAFS might have actually gotten paid on this debt if they had done what they should have and responded to my validation request. Instead, they will now be owing me money.

As for your quote.

Please refrain from personal attack - Jason

And once you have been told not to call these third parties and you continue, then that will be just another FDCPA case against NAFS. I will find out your name and will mention it in the court papers when I do file suit.

So knock yourself out!

I have helped out one person with them because they got scared. NAFS threatened to sue them if they didn't pay right away on a $72 credit card. The credit card is way out of SOL, about 10 years old. It is sad that a company would take advantage of the elderly on social security who do not have to pay you by law, never mind that your company can't sue if the debt is time barred.

I will tell you this, if your company puts it on his credit report after I he sent you a debt validation letter, your company WILL have a nice big lawsuit on their hands. Your company will be paying out THOUSANDS of dollars for a judgment, all because they violated the law collecting on a $72 debt.

How ya like them apples?
