To whom it may concern:
Before I get to the question I'll provide some background to my problem. Last year I was notified by mail that midland credit management (MCM) was trying to collect on a bill I had due from Southwestern Bell (a total of $55.41). I disputed this saying that I had paid it (but lost) and in November last year I paid MCM by check $41.56 in a settlement offer to get this done with.
Well, it turns out it's not done since I just requested a copy of my credit report and I have a negative credit history from MCM for the $13 (the total due minus the settlement payment). On my credit report it says that the account with the $13 balance is closed. However I would really like to get rid of the one negative mark on my credit report.
After skimming some of the fourms my question is will paying the remaining $13 get rid of this negative or will it remain for a certain amount of time. Needless to say I thought I was done with this but it just won't go away and I'm trying to figure out the best thing to do since paying the $13 isn't an issue, it's just a matter of will it remove it from my credit report. Thank you for your time.
Sincerely,
Robert
