Northstar Location Services, Cheektowaga NY
I read somewhere that these people from Northstar Location Services were bottom feaders in the collection world. well I recieved a collection letter from Northstar Location Services about 4 weeks ago and sent them back a debt verification letter. Today I was suprised to recieve a northstar location services settlement letter with a photocopy of the original contract signed by me, the payment history, the sell date for the vehicle (it was a repo).
So I want to know how they got this information if Northstar Location Services are not a legit collection agency and what do I do now? I do not have $7000, heck I don't have $50 right now. This bill goes back to 2004 and I have not heard from Ford or any collection agency since 2005 and have made no payments since the fall of 2004 Any ideas would be helfpul
I have been making payments to Northstar on a Sears account that is past due. At first they were collecting 100.00, and now they went up to 144.00. Can they do this. I am all for paying my debt, I am doing what I can at this moment as I am just getting back to work and am paying more then one debt at this point. I am excited about getting to this point, but don't want to be overwhelmed by the amount I am paying.
northstar got my cell # listed as some lowlife's # that has not paid his bills repeated atepts to have my # from this person's account have thus far fallen on deaf ears perhaps my conversation today 3-6-09 will end,but if not what can I do?
Send them a Cease and Desist letter by CMRRR.
You people are morons to deal with a collection agency. I terrorize them. I crank call them! Just ignore them and change your phone ###-the degenerates will get tired of calling. Don't be a pusssy about it.
:( Speaking from experience, be leery of these people! I am not saying that they can not collect only that they are super shady!
My husband and I voluntarily repo'd a car after I had a bad accident in our other vehicle causing tons of bills. The account was in both of our names. When Northstar called, my husband set up a payment arrangement AND GAVE THEM OUR CHECKING ACCOUNT INFO! Later that night, I called and canceled the agreement. We decided to let our attorney handle it as we are using a consolidation company.
Anyway, they took the money out and said that I needed my husband to call and cancel and that they told me that...NO WAY! One gentleman said that they have no record of me calling while others see the above story! Now, they say that they have my husband's authorization recorded and they will use that to fight my claims! NOW THE BURDEN OF PROOF IS ON ME...BUT ON THEIR RECORDING!

First, check your State's Statute of Limitations. If it is less than 5 years you can send them a FOAD letter because the debt would be Out of Statute for suit. Acknowledgment of the debt would in almost all cases have to be an affirmative act you take, like signing a document acknowledging a debt or making a payment. Simply saying "Oh, THAT care loan" won't do it.

You can just send the FOAD letter - they cant touch your Social Security or the bank account it goes into.

If they're/you're doing their/your job properly, why are there so many lawsuits against them/you, especially in the past couple of years? Considering the fact that almost no one sues, could it be because you/they are one of the few debt collectors that hasn't yet figured out that the ECONOMY IS TRASHED and still act like it's the roaring 90's where fake money and plastic was just raining from the sky?!

Northstar is a collection agency? Sounds more like discrimination. I spoke with them today to try and settle a debt...I was told by a supervisor there that they don't care that I'm a single mother and the economy is so bad that half of the world is living with their parents. They proceeded to harass and threaten me over the phone...wow is all I can say. I work at the bank where they plan on taking their funds out so I have that taken care of. My lawyer will be handling the rest but for anyone looking to contact this company BEWARE! Do not do a check by phone...they are liars and cheats.
Can these folks come out and repo the car for capital one auto. I have not heard from capital one since 2006 when they charged the car off on my credit report. Now Northstar location services is calling with threats. I told them I was looking for work as I have been out of work 2 yrs and did not have money to pay 7 thousand dollars. They asked me to pay $100.00 a week and I have no money I am living with family
