I have an outstanding debt. I have called the agency in which I received the debt, they referred me to a collection agency. The collection agency states that they no longer handle claims from this agency. No one seems to know where I should make payment. What is my next step?

Welcome to the Community Who is the original creditor and when was you last payment?
It sounds like they may have charged off and sold your account to the Collection Agency.
What collection agency did they refer you to? If it was sold, you will hear something from them, either over the phone or via mail. They, too, may have sold it to someone else.
If you cannot directly pay the original creditor, I would hold off and see what you get in the mail and who it is from. Then you can come back and post and we will get you in the right direction..Good Luck.karen

I myself would add here that you should dispute the debt and demand validation when you do hear from someone else

Have you checked or requested a recent credit report? it may be a good place to start, maybe the company that owes the debt will appear on there, just a thought!
