Default Need help with a CA from IL

I got a call from a CA from IL about a capitol one account that they say they just received that day. I had told them that I cannot pay right now but I do plan on paying after the first of the year. She said the name of the company so fast I didn't understand it all I got was that they are in IL. She said ok I will tell them that you are unwilling to pay, thank you and hung up. WTF  When I call then number that called me all I get is a recording to leave my name and number and they will get back to me. The number is 1-800-605-5429. I have tried to look it up and I get nothing  I am thinking that they have to send me a letter and I never got one. I will wait on that before I call them back.

Here is the web address for Leading Edge Recovery Services... apparently they pretty bad from what I have googled and they are listed on Bud Hibbs' web site as one of the watched ones.

Roxy I deleted this link as we don't want that type to be active on our board.Cajunbulldog

Roxy if we are discussing companies and you want to give a address just do it like this:

xxx.com

By removing the http or www the link is plain text instead of active.

Thank you so much Roxy  I have a e-mail in to my DFI about this. Now I have some ammo when they try and call me back. The best part is that they are trying to say I made a payment on this account in 2004 WRONG the last time I made a payment was before my mom passed away and that was in 2001 so the SOL is running out and I think thats why they won't work with me. But now that I have an addy I can send them a nice little letter  Then they will have to show me proof that I paid in 2004.

Thanks again Roxy for taking your time to find this for me

Anything to help Puddle. I like doing research and I learned a lesson in this one. I just hate to see CA's get away with acting badly. I hated it when I happended to me and I do not want others to have to go through what I did.

Remember too, that they have five days to send you something in writing from the day they called you, or they'll be in violation.

Is it 5 business days or just 5 days?

The first call(on Friday) one lady said they just got the account, then today another lady said that they sent out a letter on Nov. 14th, then another lady today said they have had the account for some time now and have sent 2 letters, but wouldn't give me the dates.

They wanted me to agree to a payment for today I told them I couldn't and that I wanted to check with the DFI before I agreed to anything with them. Then the lady got mad and was starting to raise her voice ( I stayed clam, thanks FYI ) and asked me why I wanted to talk to them and who they were (ummm duh) and if they paid my bills for me. I informed her that the DFI is a state office and that was the same office that they had to apply for their license to collect in my state (ummmm duh again) Then she started yelling at me. I told her that I needed an account number because I am going to send them a letter because I do not agree with the date they are saying was my last payment (SOL is coming soon) and that I want this validated. Then she got really mad and said that she was going to tell them that I refused to pay and that she was going to tell them today so they could start any actions they wanted against me to pay this bill. She was starting to say something else and I told her I am not going to start yelling and get mad about this and that I am going to hang up, thank you good bye. Well they tried to call me a ton of times today while I was at work lol. Too late I already have my letter in the mail and so does the DFI lol.

Well I still haven't received the grren card in the mail yet saying they signed for my letter :x But they did send my dfi the requested documents she asked for, even a cd of the calls :? She hasn't had time to read or hear them yet. Now I am getting kind of scared. But they haven't sent me anything yet. The only thing I got was a letter from them and that was telling me that they were collecting on the account.

I will let you all know what the dfi finds out.

Well I got a reply from my DFI about LERS. Well they listened to the Cd and the DFI says that in the conversation it did not sound like I was pressured into giving my bank account. But the one call that they did tell me they would take the funds volentary or involentary and that they pressured me for my info, wasn't recorded. Imagine that :x Even though it stated that the call was being recorded hmmmm. The recorder must have been broken that day. But anyway LERS closed my account there and sent it back to the OC So now I should have some other scumbag try and scare the heck outta me. But I am going to try and contact the OC first because I know this company is sue happy when it comes close to a SOL.

Just thought I would update you all on this.

Oh and they never sent ME anything, they only sent it to the DFI
