What to do when they call and threaten with court order?

When they call and threaten with a court order they said they had tried to serve me and then they turned around and said they would settle. What is the meaning of this and I had settled with this debt a long time ago.

They are trying to intimidate you to pay them. Tell them to send you debt verification so you can see what debt it's for. If they won't, then tell them to cease and desist. Was this a payday loan that you settled before or a credit card?
