I know after reading all the bad experiences that we have all had with collection agencies in the past I do however want to report that I had a POSITIVE experience with one.
I had gotten a Verizon wireless card for my sister to use and she neglected to pay the bill. I paid the first one for her in November but she had paid nothing on it since then. This was ulitmatley turned over to collections. After speaking with the gentleman with the collection agency I found him very courteous and very helpful. He was easy to work with and I did finally get my sister to finally pay for this.
I probably shouldn't give out the collection agencies name but just wanted to let everyone know there are some decent collectors out there that are willing to work with people.

LadyBug, thanks for sharing.
I know there has to be above-the-board CA's out there......somewhere. I just haven't had the opportunity to experience any of them in the past year.
It is nice to read that someone has actually had a postitive experience, though. I'd sure like to see some more posts like this.

For my part, If I ever encounter a CA that play's by the rules, I'll be certain to post their name here. It seems only fair, considering how hard I am on the bad ones.

Post their name? Heck I'd probably send them flowers!
Considering my personal statistics though, I'm sure I don't have to worry about having to dip into a non-existent flower fund.

The name of the collection co was Miracle Management and the gentleman was Earl. He was very nice and I appreciated it and was more than willing to work with me. He said that they often get thank you letters which to me says alot.
There have been negative posts about this collection company but in my situation he was very willing and polite to work with:)

I feel posting names of these agencies, good or bad, is of great value to others and to the community as a whole.
People may come here from a google or yahoo! link when searching becasue they have gotten a call or received a dunning notice, and are trying to find out more information about that company. It helps the community stay visible, and it helps individuals be prepared for the good or bad when dealing with collectors.
Make sure, however, what ever you post is true and accurate.

LCW!
You are so correct! That's exactly how I found this site; I Googled Legal Mediation Practice last year, after one of their extremely loving and caring and completely legal (sarcasm) collection calls and the very first link brought me here.
And I'm very glad it did!
I don't think this site or anyone here that posts a particular CA's name, be it in a positive or negative way, would get in trouble, as it is only the posting of a particular "opinion." You know, sort of like when "Nonsense" comes on here and posts his completely inaccurate drivel thinly disguised as opinion.

I actually found this place while looking up a collection agency - my need for payday loan help was more pressing at the time though.
I also think it's valuable to post whatever true facts you have, as it can help others out. Until this board, I had no idea i didn't have to put up with this kind of stuff. If I ever come across a legit, good CA, I will def. post
