Okay , since people don't take you seriously here unless you register I just did. My question is this: I have a bill collector(they say they are an "investigator" but they don't say for whom) from Georgia that has called a couple of times claiming that they need to talk to me regarding a pending legal action against me and my social security number in my county here in Colorado. The person said in the first call that it was not an attempt to collect a debt. This morning they called again at 6 am my time. Same person, same MO. I called the number back and the person refused to tell me who I was calling. I then checked online and the number comes back as unlisted. Is this person doing anything illegal by not stating whom they are when asked and saying there is a pending legal case against me when there isn't? Should I record all further phone calls?

Do you have any defaulted payday loans? That message sounds like the kinds that they leave to scare you.
I am sure you will get some responses regarding your questions very soon. Why do you think you aren't taken seriously unless you register? We help everyone whether they are guests or members.

hi--
in addition to what I mentioned in the other thread, calling you before 8 am or after 9 pm is illegal unless you give them permission to do so. I am quite certain that you didnt give them permission...
you misplaced the number, but look and see if you can find it in the browser history. We can check it with contact info from known collection agencies and see what comes up.
Remember to check with your county court clerk's office as well, to make sure that someone isnt actually suing you right now. Somehow I doubt it, but you need to make sure nonetheless.

Oh, I've been reading the forum and saw where it was said that people who don't register are usually trolls which I'm not. That's where I got that from.
I don't have any defaulted payday loans. Not employed and the sole caregiver of my sick mother.

I am sorry that you got that impression. Not everyone that doesn't register is a troll; in fact, most aren't- and I don't think that anyone here has that opinion. We value everyone that comes here looking for advice. However, I am glad that you joined! It looks like you have gotten some excellent advice from skydivr. He really knows his stuff!
