Well, my wife came outside while I was working yesterday to tell me that someone called with a recorded message saying "this is not a sales call but I must speak with you immediately, press 1 to be connected with Roger Bass". She pressed 1, held for a minute or two and then hung up.

I used Google to find the name of Roger Bass and found out he doesn't exist (fake name) and I called the collection agency back.

They were pleasant and asked my phone number (which I knew they could see in caller ID anyway) and she asked is a Huan Ho lived there. I told her no and she said "okay we will take your number off our list".

Clearly I am not an Asian person but I am expecting that I will have to spend money to send them a screw off letter. I have no doubt that they will call back again before the day is out.

At least this time, they weren't asking for the Father /Son team that share my name (almost). Those collection agencies just simply didn't believe that I was not them. I ran them through the ringer.

How would they know you aren't Asian? Not all Asians have an accent. When I was working at a CA I never assumed I had a wrong number if a name didn't match a voice. I remeber once I was calling for a man who clearly sounded like a woman and was very angry with me for assuming he was a woman.

Roger Bass is prob an alias. He must not know about Bass & Assoc or he wouldn't have piced that name I don't think.

I sang Deck the Halls for them and I sang it "Fah la la la la la la la laaaaaaa" instead of "Fah rah rah rah rah rah rah rah raaaaaaaaaa". Very Happy

The point being that we have been at this addy for some time and never had any Asians living here nor have we ever had a call for an Asian (as in recycled number by the phone co). I have, however, attempted to take in a 6'2" blondish, Swedish nanny named Svetlana--but the wife wasn't going for that. Didn't even matter that I said "but its for the kids".
