If you are hiding out from collections then registering to vote isn't something you are going to want to do. It reports when you registerd, addrss, phone and which party you even vote for. Some states will also list your DL# on it also.

Are you serious? I'm glad to know this! This is very confidential information that is reported!

Geez I didn't know that. Thanks for the info FYI. Unfortunately or fortunately either way you look at it I have voted in every election. I am pretty sure that my measly vote didn't count for squat. (LOL)

There are so many ways to find a person it isn't even funny. So many resources. If you don't want to be found the only way to do it successfully is to fall off of the grid.

Thanks for the info, FYI!
Sometimes I'd love to fall off the grid, metaphorically speaking. I'm not running from collectors, just my mother-in-law.

LOL Fins!!!
I never knew that about voting. I'll have to remember that one...
But what do you do about your driver's license? Just list it to another address?

In Texas you are required to have your DL registered to the address you live in. In fact they can fine you if you move and don't get your address changed.

Same here in NJ. Its just amazing how people can just drop off the face of the earth. I bet you they are driving without a license...or a fake one.

Not necessarily. I've been completely off of the grid before. Just because your address can be found doesn't mean they can always find a phone # to go with it.
Vonage is a good way to have a phone without any of the calls. Those #'s are unsolicited and nonpublished.

Oh! Interesting. Not that I'd try that...with my luck-I'd screw it up!

FYI is right. Another way is to use only pre-payed cell phones, and don't give your number to anyone but close friends and family.

A consumer advisor from the Atlanta area says to be careful when you call a bank or a number that you're not familiar with (collection agency). Even if you hit *67 to have your number not show on their caller ID, their phone equipment will give them the number that you are calling from.
