This is a negative item. If the item is correct, it can't be removed from your credit report before the seven years reporting time. But, if it's a wrong entry, dispute it with the CRA and they will verify it with the CA. If your dispute is found correct, the item will be removed and an updated copy will be sent to your mailing address.

Any ITEM can be removed from a credit report correct or not. That is the entire basis pay for delete & goodwill letters are designed for. If the item is reporting 100% accurate, then you have to write either a goodwill letter(lates, paid debts) or a pay for delete contract.A pay for delete contract basically states you are willing to pay this debt in exchange for deletion from your credit reports.

Any inaccurate or false information has to be removed from your credit report. Dispute it with the CRA as well as the source of information. In my opinion dispute the matter in writing. Firstly make a copy of your credit report and mark the entries that are incorrect. Explain each dispute (why do u think that it is incorrect)and request an investigation to resolve the issues. If you have documents to prove your position, then send them. But do not send your originals. Send it by by certified mail, return receipt requested.

While any item can be removed not all collection agencies will do that because it isn't supposed to be done. Don't get huffy about it if it doesn't happen. Suck it up and begin to rebuild your credit. It's easier than fighting with them for lord knows how long.
