Default Debit collection notice

I received a notice from RJM Acquisitions stating they have purchased a old credit card debit.
It occurred in California and is more than 8 years old.
Should I send them a debit validation letter or just ignore them.
With regards

I would send the debt validation letter. And check the SOL in your state. I wouldn't call them because that can open a whole can of worms. Just send the DV letter and see what happens. If they start calling/harassing then check the SOL in your state.

Default SOL

The debit occurred in California there SOL is 4 years I am in New York now. New York's SOL is 6 years.
What SOL would apply? NY or California.

Had SOL expired before you left CA? 4 years from date of last payment? Sounds like either way they are SOL due to SOL if date of last payment was 8 years ago. Send them a DV and if your research determines that this is truly beyond SOL and federal credit reporting guidelines, send the a full cease comm FOAD letter in response to any further collection attempts.

Default Debit collectios notice

Dear Texas Residents,
Don’t know for sure. I just sent them a DV letter today certified return receipt.
Will see what response I get.
Checked all 3 credit bureau’s there is nothing negative in my reports. They have been looking at my report for 2 years now.
Best regards

It's a time barred debt right? It is out of statute?

If it is not on your credit reports then just ignore it. They probably don't even have the account anymore and threw it away.

Abhi, NO, they don't have to validate, just cease trying to collect on the account.

ok i got a letter from RJM stating i had some music club debt from 2006 (which is still SOL in my state), but I just turned 18 late in 08 and the name on the letter isnt my full name its a nickname so i noticed it but not something on a legal doc anywhere
i was wondering if this sounds like a non-inventive scam and how i should go about it, cause i dont want to get bad stuff on my credit but i dont want to give them whats not theirs.

Berto: Send them a debt validation letter stating that the name on this account is not your legal name. If it shows up on your credit report you may have to get more agressive. IE- you may have to sue them.

Cry: Send a debt validation letter CMRR. when you get the green card back dispute it with the three CRAs. If they come back verified you now have them on 3 possible violations that will give you some leverage. If they do not respond to your validation demand send them another letter informing them of their violations and that since they obviously can't validate, you expect this item to be removed from your credit reports. If they do not comply, you will sue them. If they still don't comply..sue them. You will have a slam dunk case.

Guest: Send them a debt validation letter. that gift thing is just a tactic at best to get you to pay, to possibly bring an out of stat debt back into stat.
