I am posting these links since they are the most useful and commonly used links to information that members and guests have here in the forum, it would be great if it could become a sticky. But in the mean time I'll just link it via my signature.

Fair Credit Reporting Act

Fair Debt Collection Practices Act

SOL by State

Attorney Generals by State

Federal Trade Commission

National Association of Consumer Advocates

No problem, that is why I am here.
Here are some additional resources I wanted to add-

The three major credit reporting bureaus:
Equifax
Experian
Transunion

Here is where you get your free annual credit report entitled by the Fair Credit Reporting Act

Hey! Can I jump on the bandwagon of useful links? I just found these three links and I think they can be super helpful. They are the links to the 3 credit reporting agencies for when you get an adverse action (a decline), or you are about to look for work, or are on welfare…any of these…but they give you free credit reports for these things.

I tried one just to see…used the name of some company that declined me years ago..and surprise surprise..it worked..got a free credit report.

so..here they are:

Transunion: http://annualcreditreport.transunion...tSituation.jsp

Experian:
http://www.experian.com/reportaccess/index.html

Equifax:

Special thanks to Goldenbast for this contribution!

Texas consumers may use this section as an enclosure with their validation letters as well, it outlines Texas Financial Code that requires them to delete credit report entries within 45 days if they cannot validate.
