You have answered your question. The SOL in Ohio for unsecured debts is 6 years. Check the date when the last payment was done towards the account. It must be past the SOL period if you are legally refusing to pay anything towards the said debt.

Is a brokerage account a written contract (15 yrs) or just written (6 yrs)?

If the debt is a credit card...and, if the collector has the original paperwork, the SOL is 15 years.
