Got sued by Unifund, lost everything

I started getting calls and letters from Unifund about old debts I owed. They were offering to settle for much less than the full debt. I ignored them figuring nothing would happen. Next thing you know they have a judgement against me for 3 times what they were originally asked for. I still did nothing. Very soon, I found that all the money in my money market and savings accounts was wiped out, my wages were starting to be garnished, and there was a huge lein on my house. I lost my job because of the garnishment, and Unifund got all the equity when I lost my house. My wife and kids have left me, and I am now living under a bridge. I have to go now, as I am getting weird looks from the library patrons.

If they offer to settle, maybe you should.

This story is bull in my opinion with the small fact that one should not ignore creditors or collectors.Topic locked.
