Legal action against me was filed.

I found that a legal action against me by a collection agency was filed. I was able to locate the case number and that summon was filed at this point back in May. I also found the name of attorney representing them and his phone number. I am not sure if I am served, yet.

I have never received that I owe something to this collection agency. I have never received summon, either. No record on credit report whatsoever.

I contacted an attorney and was told not to contact this company or their attorney at this point.

What shuld I do? I really do not know what it refers to. Please help me.

Do you have the name of the local county where the CA claims to have filed the case? You can verify the information with the clerk and check if the case is legit. Many CAs send fake legal notices to the consumers in order to get the money. First verify the case in the court and then move from there.

A collection agency or creditor does not need to inform you about any legal action being taken against you. The only information that they need to get to you is your summons which is usualy delivered by an officer of the court.

Follow the other poster's advice. Call the court clerk and see if it's for real. If it's not, you can sue them for this.

I called the court that is how I found the case number. I also pull case summary online and the summon was issued and filed. I have yet not received any summons from the court.
I am not sure if they can file the case against me in Los Angeles where I used to live and no longer its resident.

The way i understand it Help is that they must serve u personally with the summons before the case can move forward.
Hope this helps,

I would call the court and find out what you should do as you do not live in the state anymore. I wonder who signed for it? Do you know anyone living at your old address?

Doesn't matter. We don't need to serve you, the law protects us. Truthfully, the debt doesn't even have to be yours, we'll still find and get money out of you so go ahead and contact the County Clerk because that will help us in our quest. The Clerks can be bought, doesn't matter who they are or how righteous they claim to be, everyone has their price.

Mr Maurer can also have his case quickly thown out due to improper, or lack of, service. He'll be singing a diferent tune when he is served, and eventually he will if he's indeed in the collection business. I know that if I was in his state, I'd be very eager to sue him.
