Got a message from this supposed law firm today stating that it was in my best interest to contact her or have my lawyer contact them about my account! When I called, they didnt answer the phone who they were or what company they represented! They asked for a case number, which I didnt have at the time and I told them they were supposed to have validated the debt which they didnt follow through, I also told the gentleman who said mrs garcia was no longer there, that they could threaten me and that he would pass the message to the new case person! Who has had experience with they guys before and what should I do to them besides the Ohio AG! Thanks!

Your first step is to get the debt validated by the law firm. This will make sure that they are authorized to collect on this account from you. Don't make any arrangement until you have the info in writing. Have you sent the debt validation letter to them? If not, draft a letter and send it through certified mail with return receipt requested. This will be a legal evidence of your actions taken in handling the matter.
Check your state laws on recording the phone calls. If they make any illegal threats, it will be a violation of the FDCPA laws. You can hire an attorney to deal in this matter and sue them for each violation.

Try calling them aroud 11 o'clock at night. If they answer the phone they are not a law firm. They are a collection agency. Law firms go home at 5:00.

The thing is they are not a law firm, there first notice stated A.C.A Recovery, then had Norman G. Kalina of Counsel...A law firm would have Norman G. Kalina at Law as there header not somewhere down the letter!

That is the address that I have for them! I am still waiting for that phone call from them again so I can tell them they are lying and I am going to work with the original creditor and not them!

ACA is a collection agency and nothing more. they appear to use the name of Norman G Kalina to feign that that are a law firm. The will threaten, lie and push every step of the way. I do know of an attorney in pennsylvania who is also licensed in NJ that may be willing to tak on any case you can develop. If you want to work witht he clowns.. send them what ou ca, when you can. If this is for a PDL not loaning legally in your state, I would tell them to go sit. Also if your state requires that CA's be licensed, I will bet they are not and you may be able to take action against them.

Do not wait for the phone call. In my opinion you should immediately write a validation letter asking them to verify that you actually owe the debt. Remember to send the letter via certified mail with a return receipt request. The debt collector must verify the debt within 30 days of receiving the validation letter.

Norman G Kalina is involved with Aca and is hiding something. When i spoke to him he was rude and denide being involved . But later messed up and said he was. I spoke to him once and he said he wasen't. Then next thing i know i get a message from the ACA mang. wanting to know why i called Kalina. Then he calls back and chews me out for contacting him and said he wasn't involved with them. Then said that THEY we're just trying to collect a debt and that i had paid and had no right to call him at all. There CROOKS!!!

You should also check your state's bar website or call your state bar to see if the attorney is licensed in your state. If he/she is not then they have no business sending anything to you on a attorney's letterhead as it is illegal since it is engaging in the practice of law in a state without a license.
