You don't have to tell them anything. Anyway, the statute of limitations would have run long ago on debts from over 15 years ago.

Thanks for your response.

I'm nervous because I don't want to have to change my phone number constantly and I want to be able to use my own phone. I want these calls stopped. They phone number they are calling now is a cell #.

They ignored or think they have figured out how to get around 'cease and desist' even to an Attn. General.

I need an attorney in Arizona.

Perhaps you need to find out if your name or SSN is attached to these accounts...The SSN could be on the account by accident...also if you worked for these companies but, not the owner, perhaps someone at the company used your SSN without your permission...

Bottom Line..."CHECK YOUR CREDIT"

Good advise. Credit reports can tell a person so much. Checking mine allowed me to start settling all my debts by letting me find out who I owed what to. That and sending DV letters to make sure they were the right people to pay.

I've been getting calls from West Asset Management company (debt collectors) for about 2 weeks. They are calling my direct business line. My number is unpublished and shows up as blocked or unavailable when I call out. They are either random calling or the only place they could have gotten my direct number is from my website, as I only give this number out as a contact to clients. My bills, both personal and business, are all current, no credit card balances and my only debt is a mortgage anyway. So, I checked my credit report to see if someone has stolen my identity and there isn't anything unusual. This has got to be a scam!

Do not give them any information. If they are true debt collectors they will already have your information. This is a fishing scam to steal your information!

West Asset Management
2253 Northwest Parkway
Atlanta, GA 30067

I am legally disabled and on SSI. (I became disabled years after my student loan.) These guys promised to get my loan dismissed, but instead sent me a promissary note and "debt consolidation application". I can't afford much more than my rent right now, so I didn't sign this or verbally agree to anything. I'm not agreeing to repay this loan. By law, I am eligible to have my loan dismissed.....but I haven't had any luck doing so.

Needless to say, last year they seized my entire income tax refund! Food right out of my children's mouths.

You really need to post this on the 'Dealing with Student Loans' forum!

On getting your SL retired due to disability, you need to work with the SL lender or the Dept. of Education directly. A CA [any CA, but especially people like these!] has no interest in helping you do that, and nothing but a potential loss of revenue to look forward to if they do help you.

Once you get any contact from this company tell them to cease and desist. Then send them a certified letter. They tend to lose faxes and uncertified mail.

Yea, my sister has been dealing with these jerks for over two years about an old medical debt she has already disputed with the OC. They call day AFTER day, won't send DV, etc.

Tabby, did your sister send them a debt validation letter? If so did she send it certified with return receipt requested?

She sent it all right, but the post office returned it within a week, stamped: "Return to Sender. Address Unknown".

Who knows WHERE these guys are operating from....

Welcome to the community Guy Josey.
One thing I would suggest is sending them a written request to the above address to not contact you, send the request certified mail, return receipt requested. By federal law they must comply or they can face civil damages of up to $1,000 per call in violation.
