|
|
I have read through the FDCPA and see where it allows only 5 days for a collector to send a written notice after first contact and where the recipient has thirty days to request validation of the debt, I see nowhere, contrary to what I have read on posts here and have posted myself, that there is a time limit for the collector to respond. I have read about improper validations being done several times on the same debt that go on for months. Any help on this??

As far as i've always known there is NO time frame on validation (except in TX) I think where most members get confused is cuz in the dv letter we send we ask for it to be validated in 30 days. Doesn't mean they have too!
I've corrected members time and time again on this 30 day misconception but the question still always comes back up!
Hope this helps a little,
Ang

It does not seem right that they could validate it years down the road and start harrassing again.

I think they get confused with verification and validation and also with what the first notification letter says.
