I got a credit card about 10 years ago. After a while I couldn\'t make payments. I am on disability now and want to pay it off. I was contacted by CSR and they wanted to settle. The problem is I gave her my account number to my bank account. I asked her to wait until the next month but she didn\'t want to wait. To keep her from messing up my account I closed it. I still want to pay off my debt but I can only afford so much a month. I live in Alabama and she said she could hold up to 30% of my check, also she threaten me with Federal charges. Can she do that? Whats the best way to pay this debt, because someone told me not to contact the original creditor because they will just say it\'s out of there hands. I want to clean my credit up, but I tried to get a credit report and it never came. I am still married so my name changed ,could that be why my credit report did'nt come. I need my credit report, but haven't had any luck. What can I do to get my credit back on track. What would be best for me. Consolidation, credit counseling? Help!

Debts are civil, not criminal so there will be no charges pending. Plus they cannot touch disability.

You might wanna contact an attorney....this CA violated several laws.
