I checked my equifax credit report and see a couple of inquiries from equifax canada from late 2004 and early 2005. can they check my credit here without my authorization? isn't my SSN supposed to be protected? i certainly haven't provided them my SSN.

Are you a member of any of the credit bureau in Canada? If you have taken the membership, they can provide you the information about your individual credit or your company's credit history. Equifax is accessible to the residents of US and Canada though.

i was just wondering why would equifax canada be making inquiries to my US equifax credit report? I have never authorized them to do this. (i moved from canada to the US 6 years ago). they are 2 different reports as far as i am aware.

I did some searches online and didn't get any accurate results to prove that the Equifax of Canada and US are different. Besides, the FCRA laws in USA also don't differ much from the laws available in Canada. Read this page if some information is available here.
