Hi Paul

You should immediately notify the bureau in writing about the FIA CSNA listing in your report. Under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, the credit bureaus must investigate the accuracy of the information and give the consumer the written result within 30 to 45 days with an updated copy of your credit report.
You can file a dispute online, by certified letter with a RRR or even over the phone. A dispute letter should include:
1. Your complete name, SSN and date of birth
2. The name of the company and the account number of the disputed listing.
3. Explanation for your dispute and a request for correction.

Do not forget to dispute the information with FIA CSNA. Request them to verify the debt.
You have to be persistent; if the credit bureau does not respond to your first dispute letter, then send them a demand letter. Do not ignore mistakes in your report, they can seriously dent your score.

PostPosted: Tue Aug 07, 2007 12:31 pm    Post subject: FIA-MBNA-Wachovia (and other banks) interactions

If you do a search on any pair of the names (FIA = 'FIA Card Services') you will find a series of links to agreements (filed with the SEC and FDIC) that essentially allowed FIA to 'service' credit cards bearing the names of other banks. Over time and through a series of very hard-to-follow deals, the "branded" banks (Wachovia, in my case) began to distance themselves from FIA Card Services and quite a nasty web of small dirty tricks -- APR's that crept up by the month, over and above changes in the prime, shifting due dates so as to create late fees, completely noncompetitive changes in terms and, worst of all, a complete severence from the issuing bank, utterly without agreement by the cardholder, so that your friendly old bank could no longer intervene on your behalf to fix the atrocities that FIA was pouring all over you and then finally, breaking loose the credit card, still bearing your old bank's logo, from the on-line banking services that your bank probably offers.

Wachovia has been promising a clean break for more than two and a half years but now that such appears to be imminent, their new card is hardly a lick better than the frankencard that FIA had created.

Much dirt along the way, with MBNA and FIA shuffling control, ownership and indemnity back and forth like two warty toads with a frotage fetish while the regal banquers, [your big bank] and BoA, danced on the grave of customer service.

In a rare fit of candor, someone up the foodchain at Wachovia, tired of my fairly well-researched questions, admitted that his bank had taken quite a few million in skunky handshakes to get loose of the clearly disreputable, if not blatantly illegal, actions of the dirtballs. Not, however, before some of the stench rubbed off, as the cards bearing Wachovia's name are still around.

And, yes...I had a charge dated 7/9 from VIP TUNE Limmasol CY on that same card for $19.99. However that is reolved (as in, nicely, quickly and with apology), I think a class action suit might be in order.

Quite an irony that the bogus charge would bear such a shamelessly stupid name as VIP TUNE. I think that tune has already been played in one too many boardrooms and can be named in just a few notes.

Don't know what the hell this was all about, but here's what I did:

1. Got letter in mail from FIA Card Services to a card ending with number xxxx.
2. Went to the free annual credit report web site and got an experian credit report. Found the entry with the first 12 digits of the credit card number.
3. Called the FIA (24/7) 800-655-1491 number.
4. Pressed zero until I got an operator.
5. When operator asked for the card number, I used the first 12 digits from my credit report and the last 4 digits on the FIA Card Services mailing.
6. TOld them to close the account.
7. They told me they are going to mail out a confirmation letter.

After puzzling over an account for FIA CSNA (which appeared to have been an account for 10+ years - I've never heard of the place), I made a phone call & found out they took over former SunTrust accounts. Smile Hope this helps someone else...

I just have my credit report checked and FIA CSNA with the amount of $15k showed up. I was shocked as I know I never had a credit card and especially with that amount. There is no information on the credit report such as phone numbers etc. So, I came across this site. I called the 800 number and it was with BOA. And they told me, they have nothing on me. So, now I am confused and worried. How and where do I get further information regarding this? Have my identity been stolen?!!!

Same problem. Trying to figure out which card it is. Was MBNA, then it was taken over by Bank of America. I plan to lose this card. No notification outside of Credit Reporting. They single-handedly dropped my credit score by 50 points. Mad

PostPosted: Wed Feb 20, 2008 11:19 pm    Post subject: Same scam / identity theft - FIA CSNA

Two weeks ago I had my credit run from TransUnion and an account showed as FIA CSNA with me being "current" but owing an incredible (for me) balance of 22.5K on a revolving credit line of 21K. Either this is a single scammer in the company but I suspect it is a common company-wide scam job. In Nov 2007 they put 21K into a credit card of mine which had a zero balance making it now (-21,000). They were content to hide out for almost 4 months without contacting me while they racked up $1500 additional balance. So a couple of weeks ago I tell TransUnion I have no idea who FIA CSNA is and the woman asks if I want them contact to contest the account. Well, of course now "Card Services" is calling me daily by automated message asking for $1000+ for a "late account".
Needless to say, I'm livid. This is identity theft.
I am filing a report with the local police tomorrow. If anyone has other good advice please let it be known so these disgusting theives can be stopped. Evil or Very Mad

PostPosted: Mon Mar 24, 2008 7:18 am    Post subject: REGARDING WHAT IS FIA CSNA

FIA CSNA IS AFFILIATED WITH BANK OF AMERICA. THIS SHOWED UP ON MY CREDIT REPORT AND IT BROUGHT MY SCORE DOWN. I CALLED BANK OF AMERICA CREDIT CARD SERVICES TO SEE IF IT WAS THEM WHO DID AN INQUIRY AND THEY SAID YES. THEY SAID IT WAS A MISTAKE AND IT JUST SHOULD OF BEEN A SOFT INQUIRY WHICH DOES NOT EFFECT MY CREDIT SO THEY ARE NOW REMOVING THIS FROM ALL THREE CREDIT REPORTS. SO CALL BANK OF AMERICA AND SEE IF THEY DID AN INQUIRY AND IF THEY DID ASK WHY AND THEN U CAN SOLVE UR PROBLEM. THEY ALSO TOLD ME THIS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH ANY IDENTITY THEFT. SO HOPE THIS WILL HELP ANY ONE
