Spitfire you obviously went to the wrong site. For a truly free report from all three bureaus go to annualcreditreport.com. You are entitled to one report from each bureau a year.

Default disputing

Does it work against one's favor to dispute "satisfactory accounts" on your credit report? I have a couple that look unfamiliar to me, however, since I also have a few negative things on my report, I wasn't sure if disputing the decent ones would work against me.

I would never dispute any positive accounts thru a credit bureau. If you truly don't recognize this account, you can contact the creditor directly.Just know that you may lose the account once you dispute it.

Default credit repair

Can't believe all of the 'promotions' ( over the net ) that I recieve, on 'Fixing your credit' deals. They " estimate" a monthy payment.....almost $300.00 per month!! And they " promise there is no company, like theirs"....YIKES!!! I've already learned SOO much, from these forums. Things I can do for free! Thanks, everyone!!

Advice please - I have an account listed on my file that I was deliquent. However it is actually listed in the Chapter 7 I filed when I divorced. The 7th year is coming. Should I leave it alone & let it fall off or should I correct them? If I correct it - does it start the clock over again? (It will stay for another 7 years?) Thx!

Default Changing Charge Offs

I noticed that someone posted how they were able to change their charge off status to paid in full. How can this be done? Any advice/information you can offer is greatly appreciated.

Now if you want a baseline score to
start off with, you would go to www.myfico.com.

You can save 20% on your FICO order at myfico using coupon code CPPSAVINGS
I know. I dredged up a real moldy oldie here, but... Does anybody have a current discount code for myfico.com? No use spending more than I have to, right?

Default score

Have a question. Might be a crazy question, but..I just don't know. I know how to get ( and I do understand) my Credit Score, but......I'm really 'fuzzy' about a Fico Score. What is it? I mean, what does it 'entail?' Is it a certain set of numbers, etc? Can someone claify this please?

FICO is your base credit score, derived by some arcane software algorithm known only to the gnomes at Fair Isaac Corporation. Read this for more info.

Google "myfico coupon codes"
...the quotation marks are not necessary.

The next step I want to mention in this sticky is the subject "goodwill" letters.

This letter is sent to a creditor who is furnishing 100% accurate info to the bureaus. It is basically a flowery kiss your a** letter. You would start describing what you would want them to do voluntary for you and goes on to explain in great detail whay you were late, etc. It is asking in a sugar sweet way to recognize my point of view as one of your customers and remove the damage inflicted on my reports.

I am not going with a template on this one as it must be a unique sincere personal letter to increase the rate of it working.

Once you write this letter, the next step is to google the creditor and find someone in the ceo's personal staff to mail it too.Mail it certified return receipt and include a phone number because they will probably be calling you to discuss the letter with you.

Default 25% Discount Code for FICO Scores

I have NOT personally tried to use this code yet, but it will reputedly get you "25% off your entire order when entered during checkout" at MyFico...
The site where I found the code claims that it was "last verified on 5-7-08".

Code: GOALS25
(use all caps)

Hope it works - if not, please let us know!

Default "10% Discount Code for FICO Score"

This code is also personally-untested...

I found it in a post from mid-April of this year.
It reputedly came directly from a MyFico representative.

..not as good as 25% off, but if the other one doesn't work for you, 10% off is better than 0% off...

Here it is: FICO5466
(Use the CAPS)

hope it does somebody some good...
