Ok here is the first step.To assess the damage we have done, you need a copy of your credit report.

www.annualcreditreport.com
You are allowed one copy of each annually.
If you have applied for a job, insurance,or credit and
were denied based on your report, you have the right to
receive an updated report from whichever bureau they
pulled. You have 60 days to do this from denial.

Please try not to get too depressed. If it is in the
crapp@@,it can still be fixed.

Ok, hopefully we have managed to pull ourselves out
of depression by now or we even may even have a blasting
hangover. Next urls are the online links to do
disputes. I have seen a mixed result with online. It has
worked ok for me but I did not have any bad things to
dispute only excess inquiries  and ancient
addresses.

1.Experian: https://www.experian.com/consumer/ca...E&channel=8348
Put your report# from your free report in and it will
bring you to report.(Note-If you go to this shortcut you
can get a updated report daily for free)

2.Equifax: https://www.econsumer.equifax.com/co...=investigation

3. Transunion: http://annualcreditreport.transunion.../disputeonline
If online isn't working out for you, there should be
addresses on report to send in written dispute. If you
go written,I would send it certified return receipt.

Ok,
before I swamp you in all this info I will let you digest this info first.

Tips for disputing with bureaus.
1. Never dispute a tradeline that is positive, they have a bad habit of being deleted. Best bet to remove lates is to write a letter to the original creditor.

2. Never dispute as not mine. This is a wasted dispute
because of eoscar. This is a database that links data
furnishers with the bureaus.A not mine is validated with
just a name and address most of the time. If account is
truely not yours,we would do an identity theft dispute.

3. When disputing a tradeline be specific. For example, look at account status, account type, account
open date,account close date,balance,etc.By being
specific you are forcing bureau and data furnisher to
do a real investigation to correct this item.

Peace for now. Will be adding more later.

This is a good topic to start on credit repair. Thanks Cajun for your creative thoughts and putting all info in one place. Some good tips were discussed in the link below few days back. I thought of adding it here.

http://www.debtconsolidationcare.com...bout22123.html

I will write a post on this topic and put it here in the evening. I will be happy to add on a few points.

Brownsugar,
Everyone start somewhere.Review and learn the fair credit reporting act in this board. It is a long dusty
old law,but it can be a very good friend when you start
looking at those reports.

No problem,
I have seen people coming out of bankruptcy getting
credit. Bad credit sux,but just keep in your head that
when you are down there that the only way to go is up.

Thanks cajun for your hard work. This will benefit everyone. I have been cleaning up our credit reports and I have all the charge offs replaced with paid in full which helped our score tremendously. We have one payday loan place that reported on hubby report and I am in the process of disputing it now, because I have a paid in full letter from them. Yep, you guessed it, United Cash Loans. They violated about every state law in Tennessee. I am fed up with them. I filed yet another complaint against them with AG for them reporting false information.

sakkarii, you are correct.I had not gotten around to posting discount codes yet.

Tammy,if bureau is giving you problems then a stongly worded letter to both the bureau and data furnisher can work wonders. Read the fair credit reporting act in this section of the board. When you write your letter you will be informing them of relevant sections that they are violating.
Bureau- Not completing investigation/incorrect data
Data furnisher- incorrect data
For your own info these violations can have damages up to $1000.00 per tradeline per bureau, plus actual damages,& attorney fees.

I have thought seriously about suing United Cash Loans. But they give so many bogus addresses that I am afraid it would be a waste of money. They have harassed me, threatened a lawsuit for defamation of character. I have never defamed their character, just told the complete truth about them. I know there is another member that has had alot of trouble with them. It is just unbelieveable that the bureaus are so difficult to deal with.
